Sadly, both The Basement and Beyond the Basement close this weekend 25 May 2025.
Angela Connor, senior curator, will deliver the final of the series of talks delivered by a series of expert speakers who have discussed aspects of the show. Angela’s will deal with the portraits.
In the meantime, Marcus Bunyan, who has for fifteen years devotedly been producing, weekly, one of the best photography blog sites, has spared no effort in documenting the MAPh exhibition, so that those who have seen it can relive the exhibition, and for those who have not, here is a full account.
He says:
On reflection, what struck me most about this exhibition was the creative strength of the STUDENT work … and that is something nobody mentions. This was student work.
The Prahran legacy continues to reveal itself in new exhibitions, in August at the Ballarat Foto Festival, and in 2026 at the State Library of Victoria.
